My sincerest thanks go out to those who helped. I received my new phone today and the clear screen looks wonderful.
After the poor treatment I've received from Motorola concerning my RAZR V3 phone, I vow to never purchase another Motorola phone again.
I've called and emailed Motorola customer service concerning the dust problem with my phone (which is still under warranty) and have received the same response:
"We have checked the IMEI of your cell phone and it does not appear in our system. The reason of this is that the cell phone has not been manufactured for USA.
Motorola's warranty is supported in the country in which the unit was originally sold or intended for use by Motorola. If the phone is approved for use by a US Service Provider (Carrier) and has US software installed, its warranty will apply and it can be repaired at the US Repair Center, as long as there is no Physical or Liquid Damage.
Since your unit was not manufactured for use in the US, it is not covered under the manufacturer's warranty. However, you can send the phone to our National Service Center to have it exchanged by a US approved (equal value & refurbished) unit, with a US Supported software version loaded (unit will be locked for one specific US carrier), for a U$S 175 fee."
This phone was purchased in Michigan, at Centennial Wireless. When I called Centennial Wireless, they said that Motorola was incorrect and I was given the address of the Motorola service center in my area. I mailed the phone in and received my same phone back a week later, dust and all. A letter was included with the phone stating that this phone was not manufactured for USA. When I called Centennial back and told them what happened, they said they would get back to me. That was almost a week ago.
I have a year left in my contract. When that year is up I will not be renewing my contract with Centennial nor will I be purchasing another phone from Motorola.
